Job Group G

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

i. have served satisfactorily in the grade of Coxswain l for a minimum period of three (3) years;

ii. be in possession of the First Aid Certificate and Fire Fighting Course Certificate; and

iii. have displayed exceptional ability in work performance.

i. steering vessels of up to 35 feet in length and a Net Registered Tonnage (NRT) not exceeding 50 tons;

ii. duties may also involve interpreting acoustic records for fishing operations;

iii. requisition of stores and equipment required for fishing cruises;

iv. supervision of staff;

v. staff development;

vi. dealing with minor disciplinary issues; and

vii. In addition, the officer will assist in piloting vessels with up to 75 Net Registered Tonnage (NRT).
